The Chinese are generally not camera shy, and if they don’t want their photo taken, they usually just let you know without being excessively aggressive. Sometimes though a shot works because the camera is not seen, as (I think) is the case here. Most sellers in Dongtai Lu will push their wares on you in a friendly way with cries of « cheaper, cheaper ». This lady didn’t, she seemed utterly depressed although it’s probably just the tiring nature of street selling in the cold on a quiet day.
