Shooting people talking on mobile phones has become such a trope of street photography that it’s become boring. What attracted me to this shot thought was that every subject is holding either a cup or a phone. Addictions of a different sort, maybe ?

I had a few hours to kill before my flight from Los Angeles back to Asia, and a friend recommended I check out the Walt Disney Concert Hall for some really interesting photo opportunities. It was an excellent recommendation, and while this is one of the most abstract shots I got, it’s really worth seeing. After some consideration, I decided to leave the lens flare in for added effect.

I’ve been deprived of a digital camera for three months and deprived of San Francisco for three years. This morning I got up early thanks to the insane jetlag between HK and SFO and I strolled around before the sunrise. It’s good to be taking photos.

This was my first experiment with stacked ND64 filters for long-exposure shots in broad daylight. I quite like how it came out!
Some iconic landmarks you really want to shoot, but it’s tough to find a way of shooting them that you haven’t seen already. With the Golden Gate bridge I tried to combine the selective sharpness of the Lensbaby with a marked sepia processing. Might have been done in the 1920s, I guess!
