As you might have figured out by now, I really like this little temple in the Villa Borghese and decided to go shoot there both at sunrise and at sunset. The results are dramatically different as the sun going low behind the trees creates a wonderfully golden backlit scene.
ICC at Dusk

If I stand on the far left of my balcony and lean out, I can see the ICC. I had to jury rig my tripod to get this shot and prevent my camera and zoom lens from falling down 22 floors, but I’m really happy with the results.
Behind the IFC

In the fall, the sun sets behind the IFC from my place, which makes for some truly spectacular views. This is when incidentally I see how good the ISO is on the xpro2: the camera was stuck on a night setting, which explains the super high ISO and yet the picture is useable!

I only saw a couple of sunsets in Bali, but both were quite spectacular. The added bonus for this one was the fisherman in the water to his thighs, which made for a nice (and local) anchor point for the composition.
Overlooking the Islands

From the top of the cable car station, you have a stunning 360 view on Langkawi and the surrounding islands. It was dusk when we were there, but there was something wonderfully melancholy about this blue on blue landscape.
The Sun Setting Over Happy Valley

I live just south of Happy Valley and had already staked the area along Taï Hang road. Yesterday I took advantage of a clear day and went all the way up the road by cab so I could walk all the way down while the sun was setting. My battery died halfway down, but I got some good shots before the XPro2 sucked the juice out of it. I love the mix of buildings and vegetation here in Hong Kong.

The first evening, at dusk, I was struck by the possibilities offered by the bright shop windows before closing time to do silhouettes. I have it a shot and was quite pleased with the results. Unfortunately, it requires time and patience, and with kids in tow I had neither, so this is the only attempt. Definitely something I will try again.

Obviously, for the lover of Long Exposure that I am, Venice is a godsend. I wish I’d had a proper tripod (there’s only so much a Gorillapod will do) and more evenings and mornings to find cool locations to shoot, but I did get a few shots I liked, including this one.

Venice is a honeytrap for the amateur photographer, and despite only having my x100s and gorillapod, I was able to make some really great low-light long-exposures while I was there. This is one of them.
