I’m not one to blame people for being fascinated by their mobile phones, it happens to me too. Here in Hong Kong though, I sometimes get the impression that this fascination trumps everything else.

I suppose you could see a scene like this anywhere, but here in Hong Kong (and elsewhere in China) there is really the sense that people are constantly glued to their device to the absolute ignorance of anything going on around them. I must have been maybe three meters away from the lady when I shot this, took my time, framed… she never looked up.

While there isn’t as much smoking in Hong Kong as there is in mainland China, it’s still a smoking city, something which you see less and less in Europe. So forget about the coffee and mobile addictions, this is the real thing here!
