For me as a Frenchman used to mostly aseptic butchery stores, the naked meat on display in Hong Kong is both weird and strangely appealing. I have a lot more meat photos to share, but let’s start here.

There are a few pedestrian streets in Wan Chai, in between Johnston Road and Queen’s Road East where street stalls have taken over. While most of them are a food or dry goods (or junk from over the border), there’s a nice enough flower stall there, and the owner seems fairly relaxed.

Walking down King’s Road I saw this gentleman waiting patiently for clients in front of his store. He saw me raise the camera, shrugged and just kept on doing what he was doing. And my son and I couldn’t help wondering; « What the hell is he selling? »

Dongtai Lu is a street antique market in Shanghai that I’ve already been to once, but on the day after New Year we decided to take the kids there and let them pick local stuff to decorate their rooms with. I’ve always loved street markets, and I tend to shoot a lot of repetitive patterns of whatever is for sale, but this time I decided to focus on people, so this week it will all be shots of the sellers and the stalls, the passers by or just people seen in Dongtai Lu. Hope you enjoy this more street style of photos.
One of my favourite places to visit in exotic countries is food stalls and markets.
