I love taking the tram in Hong-Kong but if I’m honest I hardly ever use it as a means of transportation. I’m just as fast walking for short distances and over long distances the MTR is faster and more convenient. But there’s a timeless charm to the tram, and many photo opportunities as well. Here I exposed for the city knowing that most of the inside would be very dark, and I love that contrast.

Hong Kong trams are often decorated with painted adverts for various cosmetics, luxury goods or real estate deals. With this one I didn’t pay attention before I shot, I was just interested in the driver and his mask. So I only noticed later that it was labelled Harry Potter!

Hong Kong isn’t a very cyclist friendly city (and that’s probably a euphemism) in between the high slopes and the dense traffic. So you don’t see a lot of bikers. But there is still a Chinese reliance on cycles for deliveries and personal transportation. When the traffic is dense though, they use the tram lanes, the only place they’re guaranteed not to find cars and buses. The tram drivers don’t seem to mind.
